Types of Workers' Compensation Benefits

Medical Benefits: Medical benefits are provided with no time or monetary limitations. Under Nevada law, you may choose the treating physician for initial treatment. If you had not designated a doctor before your accident, the employer may choose a treating physician for you. Regardless of who chose the initial doctor, if you want to change doctors during your course of treatment, you need to get approval from your employer.

 

Temporary Total Disability (TTD): if an employee is temporarily totally disabled due to an accidental injury or an occupational disease the employer or its insurer shall pay to the employee compensation that equals 66 2/3% of the average weekly wage of the employee, up to a maximum.

Permanent Total Disability Benefits (PTD): If you are permanently and totally disabled from all types of employment, you may qualify for permanent total disability benefits. The weekly rate for these benefits is 66 2/3% of the employee’s average weekly wage.

 

Permanent Partial Disability Benefits (PPD): Injuries that are not so serious as to leave a worker permanently, totally disabled may nonetheless result in some permanent impairment. This is called permanent partial disability. They will receive compensation that equals 66 2/3% of their average weekly wage at the time of the accidental injury and may depend on the extent of your injury.

 

Death Benefits: When an employee’s death is caused by a work-related injury or illness, a surviving spouse or other eligible dependent may be entitled to wage replacement benefits. These payments are equal to 66 2/3% of the employee’s average weekly wage. The surviving family may also be entitled to funeral and burial expenses of up to $6,000.
