Utah Laws

  • Utah is a no-fault state. This means that your insurance company pays most of the economic losses you suffer in an accident, regardless of who was at fault.  No-fault IS the Personal Injury Protection (PIP) on your policy. No-fault covers your medical costs.

Minimum Amount of Coverage Required in Utah:

A. Liability Coverage (protects your assets in case you are found to be at fault in an auto accident):

  • $20,000 for injuries to one person

  • $50,000 for injuries to two or more people

  • $15,000 for physical damage to the other driver’s vehicle or for damage to property

B. Personal Injury Protection (PIP or No-fault) of $3,000. This provides for immediate medical care without waiting for the outcome of a lawsuit.
