Texas Employee Rights

  • Employees have the right to benefits unless the injury occurred as a result of intoxication, horseplay, an outside recreational activity, deliberate intent, an act of God, or an injury that occurred as a result of trying to injure another person

  • Employees have the right to receive medical care for their on the job injuries

  • Employees have the right to choose a doctor according to the company’s rules and regulations for choosing a doctor

  • Employees have the right to choose and hire an attorney at any point in time during the process

  • Employees have the right to get information from Office of Injured Employee Counsel

  • Employees have the right to receive ombudsman assistance. An ombudsman is a specially trained employee of the Office of Injured Employee Counsel (OIEC) who can assist you if you have a dispute with your employer's insurance carrier free of charge.

  • Employees have the right to expect that their claims will be confidential
