Nebraska Laws

  • Car insurance in the state of Nebraska is mandatory in all states and is required at the time of registering your vehicle at the Department of Motor Vehicles. The minimum liability coverage in Nebraska is $25,000 for injury or death of one person and $50,000 for injury or death of more than one person. The minimum property damage coverage is $25,000.

  • Uninsured / Underinsured Coverage is mandatory in the state of Nebraska. The minimum liability for this type of coverage is $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident.

  • The statute of limitations is the period for which you are eligible to file the insurance claim and lawsuit. If it expires, you lose the benefits that you deserve to obtain from the party responsible for causing the car accident. You can file a personal injury claim within 4 years of the car accident, and a property damage claim within 4 years.

  • Nebraska adopts a modified comparative fault at 50% policy. That means that if an injured person is less than 50% at fault for the accident, he is entitled to compensation. If the injured party is 50% or more at fault, he or she is not entitled to recovery for the injury
