Antithyroglobulin

Antithyroglobulin is an antibody directed against thyroglobulin and helps in the diagnosis of certain thyroid diseases such as Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or Graves’ disease. Thyroglubulin is a protein produced by and used entirely within the thyroid gland and is essential to the production of thyroid hormones. Antithyroglobulin antibodies can damage the thyroid gland and affect its function.
