Antibody, antithyroglobulin

Antithyroglobulin antibodies are antibodies that are directed against thyroglobulin, which is a protein produced by and used entirely within the thyroid gland. Antithyroglobulin antibodies can damage the thyroid gland and affect its function. These antibodies are often found in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis or Graves' disease.
