Angiostrongyliasis is an infection by a parasitic roundworm called Angiostrongylus, usually from consuming raw or insufficiently cooked hosts such as snails, slugs, prawns or crabs. There are two types of this infection that can affect humans: Angiostrongyliasis cantonensis (the presence of rat lungworm larvae in the brain) and Angiostrongyliasis costaricensis (abdominal pain caused by an increase of eosinophils in the blood).
