Amitriptyline

Amitryptyline is an antidepressant medication, which elevates the mood by raising the level of neurotransmitters in brain tissue. This type of tricyclic antidepressant is also sometimes used to ease migraines, tension headaches, anxiety attacks and some schizophrenic symptoms, as well as reduce aggression and violent behavior. Brand names for amitriptyline are Elavil and Endep.
